The Patriot (2000)**** Directed by:Roland Emmerich Rated: R for war violence
During the Revolutionary War, when British soldiers kill Benjamin Martin’s (Mel Gibson) son, Thomas (Gregory Smith), and then burn down his house, he joins the militia alongside one of his sons, Gabriel (Heath Ledger). He leads a makeshift militia and defeats many British forces. The British soldier, who killed Thomas, kills Gabriel too, and Benjamin has a new mission: to kill William Tavington (Jason Issacs), the soldier who destroyed Benjamin’s life.
I thought that the story was told from the American's point of view, not from a neutral one. The story line featured many cruel things that the British did, but not show any atrocities committed by the Americans. Over all, the movie was very good, and depicts a great example of an emotional, yet brave character.
